If you're not familiar with the Osprey brand, you should be. I am using this backpack for my business travels, but I am an avid hiker and have used Osprey backpacks for years. As with this more travel-oriented backpack, Osprey's are strong, well designed, and constructed to be strong, durable, and comfortable. For example, the pulls on the zippers are not just braided but also have a plastic ring built in so that you don't need to fumble to find a way to grasp them. The back has two layers of foam that make the backpack comfortable to carry but also leave air spaces to keep you dry as you wear it.There are enough pockets, with at least three of them zippered, to hold whatever I need for a two-3 day business trip, including a change of clothes in the large compartment and my laptop. I travel a lot and have learned to pack light so that it may be good for two days for some people.I have never had the nylon body on any of my Osprey backpacks tear or shred, despite being dragged, thrown on rocks, etc. You won't need to be gentle with this backpack; it's built like the hiking/camping models and can take abuse. In fact, there's no reason not to use this for camping or hiking; with two mesh elastic bottle holders on the sides and an elastic mesh pocket on the front, it would be great for hikers. the only thing making this a business backpack for me is the laptop compartment, but I could easily gear this up for a hike. This is an excellent value at just under $100 at this writing; Osprey can easily cost twice that much, and most other backpacks will not offer the same level of quality at that price.Review of: Osprey Flare Laptop BackpackThe Osprey Flare laptop backpack weighs in at 1.7 pounds, and holds up to a 16-inch laptop computer, according to the tag (contrary to the product page). It has no sternum strap or waist strap, but it has two water bottle pockets, a main compartment for the laptop with dividers, a shallow exterior pocket for glasses, phone, etc., and an organizer compartment for keys (key attachment point included), papers, etc. There's also an open pocket on the front, where you could stash a light jacket, sweater, hoodie, etc. This is made to the typical high standards of Osprey. The back has mesh over a ribbed foam panel that Osprey calls "Airscape". This keeps your back from sweating as much when wearing the pack in warm climates. Love the look, and feel of the bag. It is great for travel, but I'm assuming it wouldn't be great for more than a laptop and a couple of books (I'm not sure how many textbooks college students have to carry around nowadays). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.Osprey Flare Laptop BackpackEasy to adjust straps for your height and needsIt holds more than you think it will be able to from initial looksTons of pockets and space-saving featuresBuckles on each side that are easy to open and close as neededComfortable to wear and use even for long periodsNo issues with zippers splitting even when over-stuffing the backpackA nice supportive stiffer back piece keeps the bag from sagging even when the load is weighed down with itemsSeriously impressed all the way around when it comes to this backpackI really like small backpacks that fit under the seat in front of me on a plane, and not huge on my back. This is a nice designed pack, two sleeve areas in the back -- I use them for my laptop + kindle (but iPad would work great as well). Organization pocket (although I wish it was on top instead of towards the back). Big front pocket for pens/etc that goes all the way to the bottom (which I'm not sure I like, but prevents bunching up inside). It also has a mesh pouch on the back which you can stuff a shirt/sweatshirt/quick things as well -- the offer a version without it as well.
